IHS is looking to fill the position of Academic Assistant within the Urban Sustainability and Climate Change Resilience department. This Academic Assistant will contribute to the educational, research and advisory activities in which the department is engaged in the field of, among others, urban sustainability, urban environment, urban climate change, green infrastructure and nature based solutions, urban land, water, waste and energy nexus, and urban resilience.
We are looking for a candidate who:
Fixed-term contract: 1 year.
The candidate must be in possession of a Dutch residence permit or be an EU citizen. The position is available in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, starting for a period of 1 year, with possible extension of employment for a maximum of 2 years, and is based on 40 hours per week.
Remuneration will be in line with the responsibilities of the role and related to the work experience of the candidate. For full-time employment the minimum gross monthly salary is € 2.367 and maximum € 3.196 based on 40 working hours per week and on a salary scale of 7 of the collective labour agreement for Dutch universities (CAO NU). The employment conditions include a holiday allowance of 8,0% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3%.
The ideal starting date would be November 2021.
The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) - Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) focuses on educational, research and advisory activities related to urban development and management world-wide. Within IHS, the Urban Sustainability and Climate Change Resilience department looks at how urban areas can transition towards more sustainable and resilient development pathways within the context of environmental challenges and climate change dynamics. Of particular interest are the relationship between the natural and built environment, the role of green infrastructure and nature based solutions, innovations related to the management of water, energy and transport systems and their contribution to reducing pollution and improving environmental performance, land use and urban spatial form and their influence on urban sustainability, the analysis of climate change adaptation and mitigation actions, and the determinants of urban resilience.
