The department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) invites you to apply for this unique tenure track position at the assistant professor level. Your desire and potential to build a record of excellence in both research and teaching are much appreciated, in whichever sub-discipline you are in the broad field of strategic management and entrepreneurship.

As assistant professor in strategic management and/or entrepreneurship the department of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship at RSM, you join a terrific and exceptionally collegial and international group of tenure track faculty. A group which includes Christopher Sabel (BI Norwegian Business School), Erdem Dogukan Yilmaz (Bocconi), Andreas Distel (Copenhagen Business School), Yu Liu (Aalto University), Laura Rosendahl Huber (Max Planck Institute), Xena Welch Guerra (University of St. Gallen), Emanuel Ubert (Universita della Svizzera Italiana/USI) Caroline Witte (Copenhagen Business School), Zhiyan Wu (Zhejiang University) and, joining us this autumn, Jens-Christian Friedmann (Bocconi) and Patia McGrath (Wharton).

Tenure-track requirements for teaching and research

Your teaching workload includes about three courses throughout your tenure track contract. This is similar to a 3-0 or 2-1 workload in the US system, although the courses tend to run over fewer weeks.

Additionally, you supervise approximately 10 master thesis students per year, provided that this covers the norms which our department and the school use for research and teaching assignments.

In terms of research, the research culture and resources set by RSM’s research institute, Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM), aim to provide you with the best conditions in which to conduct outstanding research

You possess a doctorate degree, or you are in your final year of dissertation research.

Your required competences
We require you to have a doctorate degree or to be in your final year of dissertation research in strategic management and entrepreneurship or a related field.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 6 years (in 10-year frame).

This is a full-time position with a contract for 38 hours per week.

Department

The department of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship plays an important role in all major teaching programmes at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, such as BSc Business Administration and BSc International Administration, MSc International Management/CEMS, and Executive MBA. The department is home to in the MSc Strategic Management and MSc Strategic Entrepreneurship. We aim to continuously develop and improve the courses we offer to actively align them with the changing business environment, and are research-driven in what we teach.

The department belongs to Europe’s strongest Strategy departments in terms of research output and impact. It consists of over approximately 40 teachers and researchers, including about 10 PhD candidates. It has excellent contacts with national and multinational businesses, and has a number of internationally renowned professors. Education and research are focused on strategic management, global strategy, family business, individual and corporate entrepreneurship, co-operation and competition between companies, and strategic renewal. The department has several research platforms, such as the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Erasmus Centre for Family Business; they deliver pioneering research in specific areas of strategy.
