We invite applications for a PhD position at the Department of Radiology of the Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC+). The researcher will participate in a multi-center study into the value and optimal application of forensic radiology in (potential) criminal investigation and prosecution. This study is a collaboration between the national police force, the public prosecutors, the public health organization and the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI). The position is embedded in the MUMC+. The Unit Forensic Radiology of the MUMC+ provides forensic radiology services and performs research in this field.
We are looking for a candidate with a University Master degree in forensic science, biomedical science or medicine or another related field. Experience with medical imaging or forensic examinations is an advantage, but not a must.
The candidate must be self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality research. You are a highly motivated team player with good social skills. You like to work in an interdisciplinary environment and you are fluent in English.
Fixed-term contract: 4 years.
Temporary employment for 4 years. The first year will be a probation period, after a positive assessment the position will be extended for another 3 years, which happens in the vast majority of cases.
Your salary would be € 2.395,- gross per month in the first year up to € 3.061,- gross per month in the fourth year according to the PhD-candidate salary scale. Each year an evaluation will take place.
