The employment is primarily dedicated towards carrying out the proposed research described below, with the aim to write several academic articles that are published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and together form the dissertation. The position also involves contributions to teaching. The position and the environment in which the candidate will be embedded provide an optimal starting point for a possible academic career.
The candidate should be strongly interested in studying methodological aspects of empirical research practices in the social or behavioral sciences.
The project requires that the candidate has a good working knowledge of qualitative research methods and multivariate statistical analysis. Experience with performing qualitative research as demonstrated in professional or academic publications is an advantage.
Furthermore, the candidate should have (nearly) completed a (Research) Master’s degree in one of the social or behavioral disciplines with excellent academic results for subjects on research methodology.
Excellent command of English and good academic writing skills are expected.
Fixed-term contract: 4 years.
The PhD candidate will be employed by Tilburg University, which is among the top Dutch employers and has an excellent policy concerning terms of employment. The collective employment terms and conditions for Dutch universities will apply.
We offer a full-time position (fte). Initially the appointment will be on a temporary basis for the period of 1 year. After a positive first year evaluation the contract will be prolonged for 3 years. A contract of 0.8 fte with a longer period of appointment is possible.
The gross salary for the PhD position amounts to € 2.395 per month in the first year, rising to € 3.061 per month in the fourth year, based on a full-time appointment (38 hours per week).
A holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% (annually).
