The Faculty of Law of Maastricht University is looking for a: Post-doctoral researcher for a 2-year position (1,0 fte): Understanding globalization from a local perspective

We are looking for a Post-Doctoral researcher to become part of the Globalization and Law Network (GLaw-Net) of Maastricht University. Having recently completed her or his PhD, she or he will carry out research on cities, and the local level in general, in a global context (see below under “Research Focus” ). The researcher will become part of one of the six Departments composing the Faculty of Law of Maastricht University and of one or more of the research institutes present in the Faculty of Law, depending on his or her main research expertise. Candidates must:

• hold a PhD in law, with a European, international or comparative law outlook.
• give evidence of sustained research achievements, reflected in peer-reviewed publications.
• have a strong command of English and willingness to learn Dutch.
• have excellent interpersonal and effective communication skills.
• have excellent organizational skills.

Candidates are employed temporarily as researcher (level 4).

The salary depends on academic qualifications and experience. The salary will be set between minimum gross month salary € 2.836,00 of salary scale 10.0 and maximum gross month salary of € 4.474,00 of salary scale 10.12, based on a full-time employment, of the Collective Labour Agreement of the Dutch Universities. For people recruited from abroad a reduced income tax rate may apply.

Research is focused on the study of the role of law in an increasingly globalised society. Research involves studying both institutional and substantive developments in the process of Europeanisation and globalisation and the role of the national legal order therein. This takes place by means of comparative research and research in the fields of European law, international economic law and human rights in a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary context. To this end, various research methods are applied whereby more traditional methods are combined with empirical research methods.

The Faculty of Law has six departments (Private Law, Public Law, International and European Law, Criminal Law, Tax Law and Foundation and Methods of Law) and hosts eight research institutes, while many researchers of the faculty also participate in interdisciplinary interfaculty institutes (https://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/about-um/faculties/law/research).
