Job description

The Faculty of Campus Fryslan (CF) offers 1 position of junior researcher for 5 months (1fte) within the research group of Sustainable Entrepreneurship, starting in February 2022. The position is funded by the NWO-project "Shared connectivity in Mobility and Logistics Enable Sustainability (SMiLES)". The junior researcher will work at the faculty and also engage with the partners in practice on the following topic.

Future envisioning of shared/sustainable mobility innovations
Lowering mobility and logistics-related CO2-emissions is high on the agenda of Dutch cities. This requires a large-scale transition where conventional motor-vehicle transport is replaced with shared and sustainable alternatives. Several innovative solutions are being anticipated such as replacing fossil-fuel vehicles with electric or hydrogen vehicles or using automated public transport running on clean energy. Yet, these innovations and solutions remain to be rather hypothetical for the public, which might remain as a barrier to their acceptability and adoption. In the current project, we aim at studying whether the method of “future envisioning” of innovations would give people a sense of agency, thereby increasing their willingness to adopt these. We aim at using multimedia technologies (e.g. videos or virtual reality environment) to design a study showcasing the innovations. We will explore perceptions, attitudes and adoption intentions via questionnaires.
