Your main duties in outline:
As a lecturer within the Department of Applied Economics ,you will provide education for bachelor or master students, develop education material and contribute to various seminars. You will also supervise theses and actively participate in other teaching tasks. We offer the right training opportunities for you to develop further as an expert, so that you can contribute both professionally and didactically to the curricula of the programmes within Applied Economics. In addition to teaching, you will have room to conduct your own research and keep your scientific knowledge up to date.
In your role as a Teacher of the Tutor Academy, you will be a member of the academic staff of the ESE Tutor Academy (TAc), focusing on the practical and didactical realisation of small-scale education for first-year and second-year bachelor courses within Applied Economics. The small-scale education at the ESE is realised with the help of teaching assistants, who are older students in charge of tutorial groups. Your task as a TAc teacher is to guide the teaching assistants, and in doing so, monitor and sustain the quality of our small-scale education. Your task is also to select the teaching assistants for these courses each academic year (hiring is done by the administration of the Tutor Academy, together with the HR department). . You also identify opportunities for improvement for these tutorials, and think of ways to implement them if necessary. In collaboration with the Tutor Academy teachers, you develop teaching materials and contribute to any educational innovations. You report on your work within the Applied Economics department directly to one of the professors, and within the Tutor Academy to its academic lead.

The position is based at Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam, at the Erasmus School of Economics (ESE). It is a temporary contract for the duration of four years. The position has a size of 0.8 to 1 FTE. The salary depends on your knowledge and experience and amounts to between € 3,974 and a maximum of € 4,670 gross per month (scale 11) for full-time employment, in accordance with the CAO-NU. We also offer you a 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-the-year bonus of 8.3%, and a very generous leave scheme. Furthermore, EUR is affiliated to ABP for its pension scheme and we offer partially paid parental leave, fully paid additional birth leave for partners and a personal career budget. ESE is the economics faculty of EUR. Within the faculty there are four different capacity groups (Business Economics, General Economics, Applied Economics and Econometrics) with, among others, the Department of Business Administration. The vacancy is within the Applied Economics department. This department is organised into three teaching and research groups, Economics & Strategy, Behavioural Economics and Health Economics. ESE is one of the largest and most successful economics schools in Europe and offers excellent research facilities to its faculty. ESE faculty members actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Tinbergen Institute and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM). There is also close cooperation with other schools of the university, such as RSM (through the research institute ERIM).
