Job description

The challenge

Work on a 2-year post-master's degree with a focus on technological design, including an educational component and a design project with ASPARi network companies. Develop a computer vision system to monitor the physical and mechanical properties of asphalt layers during construction. By project completion, we aim to develop a working prototype that: (1) generates a structured visual dataset (RGB, thermal, and point cloud images), (2) processes and synthesizes data into actionable information for operators to assess compaction quality and plan next steps, and (3) endures the challenging conditions of asphalt construction sites. Successfully completing the project will significantly enhance the ASPARi methodology.

The mission

Develop a functional prototype that creates a time-stamped, georeferenced visual dataset with RGB, thermal, and point cloud images. The system should be mountable on asphalt equipment, plug-and-play, capable of real-time data processing, and tested on construction sites.
