Job description

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has a job opening for the position of postdoc. If you are looking for a next step in research after finalising a PhD and you enjoy the interdisciplinary topic of responsible animal ownership and the facets of veterinary science, ethology and human psychology, then this is the job for you. This postdoc position is for a project studying acute pain recognition in post-operative dogs by dog owners and the possibilities for improving such pain recognition based on current pain scales and improvements thereof. It is part of a project that is run in collaboration with the Departments of Clinical Sciences and Population Health Sciences of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and aims to deliver both scientific output as well as output that is of direct value to veterinary and animal behavioural professions.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • You hold a PhD degree, preferably in ethology, animal behaviour, veterinary science, or with psychological or sociological background.
  • You are a meticulous and skilled scientist willing to take responsibility for your part of the project within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Your track record includes scientific publications.
  • You are a native Dutch speaker and/or have language proficiency in Dutch at CEFR-level C1/ C2.
  • You have good communication skills and feeling for communicating with dog owners of various backgrounds.

Conditions of employment

We offer:

  • a position (0.8 FTE) for 2 years;
  • a full-time gross salary between €3.326,- and €5.090,- in scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO);
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
