Job description

Come join our team at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM) and explore the connections between standardisation management and the cutting-edge world of innovation management. Your efforts can help to enrich RSM’s research and education, and together we can write the next chapter in the world of standardisation, innovation and transformation.

Job description
As RSM’s associate professor of Innovation Management and chair of Standardisation Management, you’re at the forefront of innovation and you contribute with your research and teaching in this dynamic field.

Your role
In this unique dual placement, you create a fertile ground for investigating standardisation at various levels and from different perspectives. Your role resides within the Innovation Management group of RSM’s department of Technology and Operations Management.

In addition to your primary focus, the department's expertise in supply chain management and business information management presents an excellent opportunity for you to weave the threads of standardisation management into these relevant areas.

Standardisation requires a broad, managerial perspective. In your role, you connect relevant stakeholders such as the Stichting Koninklijk Nederlands Normalisatie Instituut (NEN) with the university by developing, for example, innovative methods and techniques or by validating the impact of standardisation within or across organisations, whether small and medium-sized business or corporate businesses. With the advent of new technologies like AI, there is a tremendous opportunity for innovation, where your scientific insights are invaluable. Our vision is to establish a strong bond between our school and standardisation stakeholders. Within this vision, you create change, build consensus and drive innovation – all integral aspects of standardisation.

Our Innovation Management group is globally renowned for both the quality of research and excellence in teaching. Your role as associate professor of Innovation Management is permanent, while your role as chair of Standardisation Management is currently a term of five years and supported by funding from the NEN.

About chair of Standardisation Management
Established over three decades ago, the role of chair of Standardisation Management is truly one-of-a-kind. It emphasises a managerial focus that sets RSM apart. We’re proud to be part of the SOONS network, a hub for education and research in standardisation within the Netherlands, and to foster collaboration with research groups at Delft, Eindhoven, Tilburg and other universities. Over the years, our chair has played a leading role in organisations such as the European Academy for Standardisation (EURAS), and we continue to be active participants in scientific and professional communities dedicated to advancing the field of standardisation, both nationally and internationally.
