Job description

As professor and chair of the section Orthodontics of the Department of Dentistry, you will make a meaningful contribution to expanding knowledge in the field of orthodontics with the teaching assignment Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. You secure this knowledge in education, research and long-term clinical patient care. You also have a clear vision of innovation within dental education and you focus on multidisciplinary collaboration and your (inter)national network. Do you see yourself playing a leading role as Professor of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics? Then we would like to have a conversation with you!

Within Dentistry, there are many new developments in orthodontics. Examples include three-dimensional imaging for diagnostics, treatment planning and evaluation, skeletal anchoring, tooth displacement with serial 3D planned and printed clear aligners and treatment of patients with complex interdisciplinary dental and/or medical problems. Treatment of patients with congenital anomalies is developing into a 'super' specialty within orthodontics. In the position of professor, you embrace the developments in your field and focus on your core tasks of (academic) patient care, education/training and research.

You will maintain and promote a high-quality educational standard and you are responsible for further development of the curriculum for advanced dental education, the undergraduate dental program, clinical patient care in the orthodontic clinic and scientific activities in orthodontics. You will also promote diversity and inclusion in all faculty, staff and students. You will serve on departmental and Radboudumc-wide committees. Additional assignments from the dean will be accepted and teaching and training tasks of the department will be participated in. These include lectures, seminars, clinical supervision of orthodontic trainees within the Centre for Orofacial Care and related activities. You are responsible for sustaining your own continuous education for your area of expertise, both within and outside Radboudumc. You perform patient care by dedicating up to one day per week to clinical practice.

As professor of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, you facilitate the research and scientific activities of the department and you develop and maintain a research portfolio in line with the strategy of the Radboudumc Research Institute. In doing so, you not only use existing (inter)national collaborations but you will also initiate new ones. You publish in peer-reviewed journals, make presentations at relevant meetings and acquire grants. The research activities are aligned with the 'Orofacial Health' research program.
