Job description

Are you passionate about the intersection of data management, privacy, and academic research? Join our team as a Data Steward and play a pivotal role in shaping and safeguarding our university's data practices.

What are you going to do
As data steward, you will facilitate the implementation of and compliance with the university-wide privacy and information security policies as well as FAIR data policies. You will collaborate with the other data stewards of the Psychology domain and the data stewards of the Faculty. It is essential that the suitable candidate has an affinity with the academic world and can be a fully-fledged interlocutor for staff and students about the usefulness and necessity of policy measures concerning privacy and information security.

Your tasks
In this role, you will review new project applications in the ethics and privacy/data management evaluation system, manage the status of these applications, and draft responses. You will act as a point of contact for researchers, answering their questions and referring them to the appropriate person if needed. Additionally, you will perform various administrative tasks, such as making appointments with researchers, archiving contracts and data packages, and processing project folder requests. You will assist researchers in preparing data management plans that comply with institutional protocols and European laws and regulations (GDPR). Furthermore, you will support the process of making research data publishable, wherever possible and desired, in accordance with FAIR and Open Science principles.

What do you have to offer

You have
  • experience within the field of scientific research;
  • affinity with the field of research data management;
  • demonstrable knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to the area of information security and personal data protection, or are willing to learn;
  • a proactive attitude, and can work conscientiously and independently;
  • excellent teamwork skills;
  • outstanding English written and verbal communication skills, with Dutch comprehension as an added advantage.

What can we offer you
The position concerns temporary employment of 19 hours per week, to replace a colleague on sick leave for initially 6 months, with a possibility of extension. For this position the University Job Classification profile data-steward 4 applies.

Depending on your experience, the minimum salary is €3.377 and the maximum salary is €4.640 gross per month based on a 38-hour working week, in keeping with salary scale 9, as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities. Depending on your interest and experience extra responsibilities may be available and the salary could be based on scale 10 (max €5090,-)

We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
