Job description

  • You check the not yet processed Chinese language materials and sort them out.
  • You re-pack them in archival packaging materials and prepare them for placement in the regular IISH storage rooms (if physical).
  • You check available metadata or create new, make English and Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) versions, and prepare these for further processing and import in the IISH catalogs.

Requirements

  • You have interest in, and knowledge of, the topics and organisations the IISH is collecting in Hong Kong and China.
  • You have experience in working with similar materials.
  • You are aware of the sensitivity of the material you will handle, and treat everything with the necessary confidentiality.
  • You have excellent language skills in Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) and in English and/or Dutch.
  • You have experience with standard computer programs such as Word and Excel, and understanding of digital file types, social media and etc.
  • You are accurate, and can keep to planning and agreements. You ask for consultation and feedback when necessary;
  • You reside in The Netherlands at the start of the workperiod an during the lenght of the contract.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 jaar.

Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is € [[salarisMin]] and the maximum salary is € [[salarisMax]] gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale [[ufoSchaal]] cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP. For example, by working an extra two hours a week, it is possible to increase the number of days off from 29 to 41 days a year (with full-time employment).
