The Radboudumc is looking for a Professor of Pharmacology-Toxicology to continue its long tradition and strong international track record in pharmacological and toxicological research. Main goal of the research is to translate molecular-based knowledge on mechanisms of action and disposition of drugs into clinical research. Our hospital thus contributes to the development of more effective, safer and individualized drug therapies. This aligns perfectly with its mission to make a significant impact on health care by using personalized and innovative approaches. In conducting research, the teaching assignment holder is expected to focus on molecular and/or translational aspects of pharmacology and toxicology at Radboudumc in conjunction with ongoing research programs. In house, the teaching assignment links to the main strategic theme 'Molecular mechanisms of diseases and new treatments' and is related to activities of other research groups within the department. It also aligns with the sector plan 'Drugs and ATMPs: therapy development for rare diseases'.
In addition, the candidate takes a leading role in the teaching areas of pharmacology and toxicology within relevant curricula of the Radboudumc and co-directs the liaison with other institutes such as the Radboud University (RU) and TU Twente. The new professor also fulfills a bridging function with the teaching of medicinal chemistry and toxicology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science of the RU.
The new professor: Research - Initiates and leads excellent research in translational molecular pharmacology and toxicology.

- Maintains and leads internal, national and international research networks.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities and leads a successful research group with an eye for professional and personal development of all group members.
- Provides sound policies in the areas of HR, organization and finance and their proper implementation within the department, demonstrates focus, direction and decisiveness in this.
- Meets criteria for RGL in accordance with the Scientific Career Pathways policy.
- Leads and supports a team of PhD students, postdocs, assistant professors and scientific staff, including technicians and data scientists and associate clinicians with dedicated research time.
- Prioritizes career development for team members and team science in line with Radboudumc's strategy.
- Gets national and international funding to support research activities.
- Participates as a guest speaker in national and international conferences.
- Seeks connection and synergy with regulatory parties such as Medicines Evaluation Board (CBG) and European Medicines Agency (EMA).
Education - Contributes to teaching activities in undergraduate and postgraduate educational programs, the latter in consultation and collaboration with the Radboudumc Education Coordinators.
- Plays an active role in (the development of) educational courses and programs, including the Drug Safety and Toxicology master and Pharmacotherapy learning line.
- Collaborates in the development of the new master's specialization "Therapy Development" as part of the sector plan initiative.
- Plays an active role in the department's education group.
- Contributes to the organization of national and international conferences.
- Supervises research internships for students of (bio)medical, life sciences and pharmaceutical sciences.
