The Summer Programmes Office is seeking a Programme Coordinator to join our team in January. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to engage in the study abroad field and immerse yourself in a truly international academic environment. Last year, our interdisciplinary programmes welcomed participants from over 70 different nationalities. Our office oversees a wide range of responsibilities, from marketing and student recruitment to managing applications and enrollment, curriculum development, programme management, and student support during the summer. We ensure that all our programmes run smoothly.

Working at the Summer Programmes Office is fast-paced and highly rewarding. In summer 2025, we anticipate hosting over 600 students across 30 programmes in various subjects within the social and behavioural sciences. Participants will come from a range of backgrounds, including high school students (aged 16+), current university students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD), and working professionals.

What are you going to do
As a Programme Coordinator, you will coordinate summer programmes in collaboration with the Academic Directors (teachers) and may also be involved in developing new programmes. You will organise excursions, bookings, and various events related to the programmes. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing clear and timely syllabi, programme schedules, and managing the digital learning environments (such as Canvas) for the programmes under your care.

During the summer, you will ensure the day-to-day operation of the programmes, including accompanying groups of students on excursions. You will also process applications and maintain communication with applicants. Moreover, you will manage programme and education administration tasks, such as processing payments, issuing confirmations, handling registrations, and managing grades and transcripts.

Furthermore, you will contribute to the website and social media by providing relevant texts and information. Lastly, you will respond to emails from students, act as a mentor, and serve as an ambassador for the University of Amsterdam community.

What do you have to offer
We are looking for candidates who have experience in organising higher education or have gained other relevant project management experience. They should have a strong interest in study-abroad programmes and innovative education in general. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students and participants of all ages and nationalities.

Candidates must be able to work independently as well as collaborate effectively within a team, combining both the qualities of a team player and a self-starter. Additionally, they should be detail-oriented, highly organized, and efficient in handling administrative tasks. We value candidates who are level-headed, positive, flexible, and capable of improvising when necessary.

You also:
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Have professional working proficiency in Dutch (C1 or higher)
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook

It is a plus if you have:
  • An interest in our pre-university honours programmes
  • Previous experience with working with students aged 16-19

What can we offer you
Programme Coordinator is a position for 32 hours per week, for one year, starting date January 1st,with the possibility - depending on developments within the Summer Programmes Office, and unchanged financial and organisational circumstances - for a permanent contract. The minimum salary is € 3.186 to € 4.255 gross per month based on a 38-hour working week, in keeping with salary scale 8, as per the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities. UFO-profile Medewerker Studentenzaken 2 is applicable.

We additionally offer an extensive package of secondary benefits, including 8% holiday allowance and a year-end bonus of 8.3%.
