Developing Internet-of-Energy (IoE) platform for flexibility services delivery.

Job description

Are you our next PostDoc in pushing forward software engineering competence with digital technologies to enable flexibility services delivery and contribute to the acceleration of the on-going energy transition?

As the coordinator of Digital integration of multi-energy flexibility assets in Regional Energy Systems (DigiRES) project under the CETPartnership joint call, TU/e will lead a consortium, involving collaborators from KU Leuven and Chalmers University together with 8 industries partners, focuses on integrating diverse multi-energy flexibility assets across five pilot sites in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Sweden. By developing and validating innovative AI solutions, we aim to advance sustainable energy transitions in Europe. We look forward to this collaborative effort and its impact on regional energy systems.

Are you eager to get involved into the integrated systems approach of energy transition, to develop and implement optimization strategies to maximize the value and profitability of both industry and end-users? If so, you will enjoy the position very much.

We offer you an attractive and modern workplace with access to the excellent equipment of the TU/e, a varied work, a wide range of training opportunities, and possibilities to access advanced, state-of-the-art technologies, platforms from industrial partners of the DigiRES project.

Job Description

The candidate is expected to develop a detailed and adaptable architecture for an Internet-of-Energy (IoE) platform, including sub-components and connections for multi-energy flexibility assets. Aimed at not only meeting current operational needs but also allowing for future technological growth and integration.

This includes implementing a modular, service-oriented framework for flexibility and easy tech adoption, specifying sub-components and their connections for improved interoperability, establishing standardized APIs for smooth integration with external systems across various protocols, and creating documentation and a prototype to test and refine the architecture's functionality, scalability, and interoperability.

The candidate also develops a secure data broadcast channel while adhering to stringent cyber-security standards, ensuring compatibility with third-party platforms. This activity will utilize a best practice secure communication protocol that incorporates end-to-end encryption, authentication, and integrity checks to protect data in transit, and ensure it can interface seamlessly with various external platforms.

The candidate also contributes in the design of a generic data model which enables exploitation of flexibility from different energy carriers across different flexibility service providers and their respective platforms. As such it is expected to Integrate the different flexibility solutions to the IoE platform to secure a resilient integrated energy systems with increased flexibility and high RES penetration.

You will contribute to the EU project DigiRES , as a part of the Electrical Energy Systems group at Electrical Engineering dept at TU/e.
