We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant to develop innovative techniques for data processing and simulation modeling, culminating in a PhD. In this role, you will:
  • Innovate and Develop: Create novel techniques for data processing and simulation models.
  • Collaborate with Industry Leaders: Work closely with ASML and Thermo Fisher Scientific to apply your techniques to their supply chain processes, enhancing their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Engage with the Research Community: Collaborate with university colleagues and the international research community, discussing your findings and insights on the (inter)national stage.
  • Present Your Work: Report your developments at prestigious international conferences, in leading journals, and at industry events.
  • Achieve Academic Excellence: Contribute to the field through your research and ultimately write a PhD thesis.

Requirements

The preferred candidate will meet as many of the following requirements as possible:
  • You have a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a similar field of study.
  • You have a good background in programming.
  • You can work on a challenging topic that has both fundamental and applied research aspects.
  • You have a strong affinity with interdisciplinary research and enjoy collaborating with others, including industrial partners.
  • Your communication skills are excellent as is your proficiency in English and your ability to collaborate in an international setting.

The preferred starting date is January 1, 2025, but a later or earlier start date can be negotiated.

Conditions of employment

  • Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation (go/no-go) after nine months. You will spend 10% of your employment on teaching tasks.
  • Salary and benefits (such as a pension scheme, paid pregnancy and maternity leave, partially paid parental leave) in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, scale P (min. €2,872 max. €3,670).
  • A year-end bonus of 8.3% and annual vacation pay of 8%.
