We are looking for an excellent, enthusiastic scholar to join the High-tech Business and Entrepreneurship (HBE) department as an assistant professor for Next Generation Digital Platforms (with a focus on the food industry). HBE, positioned within the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, holds a leading position at the interfaces of business, technology, and the social sciences. In our ground-breaking research and novel education programs, we conduct cross-disciplinary research, supporting industries and organizations in decision-making and planning in complex real-life systems in various application areas.
As part of this position, you will be working on a multi-disciplinary program entitled ‘High-tech & data-driven agri-food system of the future.’ Together with four other tenure trackers of the four Dutch technology universities (4TU), industry partners, and government stakeholders, you will contribute to novel high-tech local food systems that can be scaled to many urban environments in the world. Your work within this project will focus on the design of a Data Platform that enables:
- capturing relevant data flows based on food products and ontologies;
- smart matching of supply and demand for sustainable food consumption/production;
- transparency of food chains with a privacy-preserving layer for data governance and sovereignty across all actors (consumers, producers, healthcare organizations, etc.);
- a matching and recommender layer for building smart recommender services for sustainable food consumption and production (e.g., utilizing consumer behaviour analytics and ontologies for explainable algorithms aiming at cross-domain knowledge).
In addition to this project, you will be engaged in the development of Next Generation Digital Platforms in general, alongside exploring related subjects within the areas of management of information systems and business analytics, such as enterprise architecture, blockchain, machine learning, and (generative) AI. Your responsibilities will also include contributing to the acquisition of new projects in these fields and teaching these topics within our educational programs Business & IT, Industrial Engineering and Management, and International Business Administration (we typically assume an equal share between research and education).
We challenge conventional scholarly wisdom! Are you looking for a forward-thinking team-based environment to expand the borders of your home subject area and develop cross-disciplinary expertise? Join our team and strive to make a significant impact on science and society.
