Job description
For our international master specialization in forensic and legal psychology, we are looking for someone to strengthen our small team of teachers and professors. You will be teaching (60%) in the forensic and legal master specialization and larger clinical master, foremost by supervising research internships and theses (both BA and MA level) In addition, you will conduct research (40%) on your own topic that should fall within the domains of forensic or legal psychology. Current team members do research on biases in legal decision making, forensic neuroscience, interventions for troubled youngsters, sex offences, and on the validity of self-report measures, amongst others. We look forward to welcoming a colleague with interest in these or other topics that have forensic and/or legal psychological relevance. Our small forensic and legal psychology team is a part of the bigger clinical psychology team. Thus, you may also spread your wings (teaching-wise) further in the direction of clinical psychology.

We are looking for someone with the following characteristics.

• A PhD within forensic and legal psychology, and a clear vision on research;
• An impressive track record in terms of publications and other research-related performance such as funding acquisition;
• Experience with academic teaching, and in possession of a teaching qualification (BKO), or willingness to acquire that;
• Excellent mastery of English (the education is in English), but also mastery of Dutch, or willingness to learn the Dutch language.

Capacity for academic thinking and critical reflection.

The start date of this position is January 2025, or as soon as possible, and you will be based at Campus Woudenstein, Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB). This position is for 0.8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 4.492 to a maximum of € 6.148 gross per month, scale 11 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of 1 year and can be converted into a permanent contract if performance is good and the organizational circumstances remain unchanged.

Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies (DPECS)

Our department consists of 6 teams covering the disciplines of Psychology, Educational Sciences and Pedagogical Sciences; three closely related disciplines with each their own profile. The different psychological specialization areas of DPECS focus on understanding cognitive, physical, and social functioning and well-being in the context of mental health, education, and work. The educational sciences focus on issues regarding effectiveness and inclusion in primary, secondary and tertiary education. The pedagogical sciences focus on issues related to everyday as well as problematic development and upbringing within families, at school and in youth care. Team Clinical Psychology
The Clinical Psychology team focuses on five interconnected research themes: Experimental Psychopathology of Emotional Disorders and Affective Neuroscience, Substance Use and Addiction Science, Developmental Psychopathology, Forensic and Legal Psychology, and Health Psychology and Behavioral Change. All five themes are characterized by a 'From Lab to Society' research vision, which aims at a strong mutual connection between fundamental (experimental) research, clinical practice and health promotion. In addition, our team provides education within the Dutch and international bachelor program Psychology, and the master specializations Clinical Psychology, Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Forensic & Legal Psychology, and Health Psychology.
