SkinTERM is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (MSC-ITN),a European funding program that focuses specifically on promoting doctoral training through collaborative research projects, with an emphasis on developing skills and career prospects for early-stage researchers. Within SkinTERM, 12 early-stage researchers work on their PhD thesis in eight organizations, both companies and academic institutions.

The project seeks to transform the traditional process of skin repair into true regeneration by training highly skilled, multidisciplinary scientists capable of advancing this research field. It aims to approach wound healing from a novel perspective, focusing on regeneration instead of mere repair. The initiative is designed to produce a new generation of entrepreneurial, cross-disciplinary scientists, equipped with diverse skills and strong career opportunities in academia, industry, or the public sector.

You will work at the Department of Medical BioSciences of the Radboud university medical center, Nijmegen in the Matrix Biochemistry group led by Willeke Daamen. Within the research group, the extracellular matrix is studied to rationally design biomaterials for various applications in soft tissue regeneration, such as skin and skeletal muscle. The biomaterials are made to temporarily aid the patient’s healing process.
