Employer

Amsterdam UMC

The department of Medical Biology (https://medischebiologie.nl/) examines different disorders using a variety of microscopy, biochemistry, and omics technologies. The department also harbors the microscopy and flow cytometry core facility.

Research groups in our department use iPSC lines to model developmental and disease processes to gain insights and develop new therapeutic strategies. The researchers are also embedded in different Amsterdam UMC research institutes and partners in (inter)national consortia using iPSC models.

Current key developments include consortia like CureQ to use iSPC models for polyQ disorders (www.cureQ.nl) and the EU Pathfinder Nav1.5-CARED to understand and prevent fatal cardiac arrhythmia/sudden death (NaV1.5-CARED (nav15-cared.eu). We aim to develop strategies to combine different iPSC assays to develop deep learning models to predict onset of disease and validate therapeutic strategies.
