The faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (FPN) is looking to hire a pro-active and efficient faculty board secretary.

Job Description
As board secretary, you support the Faculty Board members of FPN and will play a vital role in the administrative policy and decision-making process of the board. Your main tasks and responsibilities are:
  • You are aware of developments in the higher education area regarding politics, society, legislation and media.
  • You draw up and manage the agenda of meetings in close consultation with dean, director and Faculty Board.
  • You are a sparring partner for the faculty board and support the board in governance and decision-making, including information gathering.
  • You draw up policy plans, annual plans, annual reports and other policy notes on behalf of the board.
  • You advise the Board, the management team and department heads on university and faculty regulations and keep them up to date.
  • You monitor the progress of the decision-making and the implementation of decisions taken.
  • You develop and follow up on action points and maintaining contact with faculty and university staff to this end.
  • You report (including minutes of meetings) and archive of board documents.
  • Communicating board decisions, handle of correspondence.
  • You review intended decisions against procedures and regulations.
  • You prepare of meetings with the executive boards.
  • You play a role in faculty-wide projects, for example acting as secretary or process coordinator.

Job Requirements
Our board secretary is an independent and proactive colleague who feels at home in a university environment. You recognize yourself in the following requirements:
  • University education or academic working and thinking level.
  • Independent, precise, organized, solution-oriented and hands-on.
  • Quickly builds up a network within the institution.
  • Has demonstrable experience in organizing, monitoring and coordinating administrative processes and projects.
  • Acts as sparring partner at a strategic level and can translate policy and managerial goals into concrete plans.
  • Affinity with higher education and the associated legislation and regulations or the ability to quickly master these.
  • Can work under time pressure if necessary.
  • Integrity and eye for organizational sensitivity.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and full professional proficiency in both Dutch and English.

What we offer
As Board secretary at Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 11 according to UFO profile Secretary to the Management, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €4537,00 and €6209,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

The Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (FPN) is an international faculty with students and staff from various cultural backgrounds, who are connected by their shared curiosity about human behaviour and our brains.

This curiosity inspires us to explore the wide field of psychology from different perspectives (such as a biological and cognitive viewpoint).
