The team

You will be part of the new Center for Safe AI, whose mission is to achieve and guarantee safe and responsible (use of) AI for a wide range of applications in industry and society in the coming decade.

You'll also join the Automated Machine Learning lab, which performs cutting-edge research advancing the capabilities of machine learning models, while also democratizing AI and leveraging it to help humanity. In addition to producing highly-cited research published at top academic venues, we build models and systems that are widely used by people every day.

The role

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in AI to lead efforts in helping companies uncover and implement meaningful AI opportunities. Based at TU Eindhoven and embedded in companies, you will work at the intersection of cutting-edge research and practical application, fostering relationships and delivering real-world impact.

Key responsibilities
  • Work with companies to identify challenges and co-create tailored, future-proof AI solutions.
  • Improve open-source AI tools and cutting-edge methods to deliver real-world impact.
  • Leverage our tools and expertise to deliver impactful AI solutions and build long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate to tackle challenging technical problems and publish research in top venues.

What we're looking for

A strong background in machine learning. Experience in developing and applying AI technologies to real-world challenges is a plus. We expect strong communication and collaboration skills, a proactive and adaptable mindset, and an innate ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build trusted relationships.

Requirements

  • Self-driven researcher, with a PhD in machine learning research, or a comparable domain.
  • Ability to conduct high quality academic research, reflected in demonstratable outputs.
  • Strong motivation to collaborate with industry on innovative AI solutions and aim at societal impact
  • A proven ability to manage complex projects to completion on schedule.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) proficiency in English, good communication and leadership skills.

Conditions of employment

A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university, in an interdisciplinary setting and within an international network. You will work on a beautiful, green campus within walking distance of the central train station. In addition, we offer you:
  • Per faculty policy, the initial contract is for one year, and will be extended based on job performance.
  • Salary in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, scale 10 (min. €4,060 max. €5,331).
  • A year-end bonus of 8.3% and annual vacation pay of 8%.
