Job description
The purpose of the Junior Legal Counsel is to advise and execute on legal cases and requests. In terms of content, the Junior Legal Counsel will work on legal issues under the responsibility of the Legal Counsel with a reasonable degree of independence. This will involve assessing and drawing up private law contracts (based on templates), helping to draft (legal) policy documents and advising internal stakeholders, within the frameworks of Dutch and European legislations and regulations, professional codes and regulations of the institution.

The tasks and responsibilities of the Junior Legal Counsel include, but not limited to:
  • First line of contact for all legal questions or requests for advice
  • Drawing up contracts, agreements or other legal documents under the supervision of the Legal Counsel
  • Develop, implement and supervise compliance with (legal) codes of conduct, guidelines, legislation and frameworks
  • Alert on and translate relevant legal developments to consequences for our organisation
  • Providing legal advice, mainly on educational law and procedures
  • Reviewing and adjusting procurement contracts
  • Legal risk analysis

Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will need to have the following knowledge, expertise or skills.
  • A minimum of HBO/BSc degree in Dutch (business) law
  • Proven work experience in a legal position, acquired through internships or another type of employment
  • Knowledge of private law is highly recommended and education law/administrative law is an advantage but not necessary to start in this position
  • Dutch language skills, at least C1 level or mother tongue
  • Good English language skills in verbal and written communication
  • Proactive, analytical and meticulous
