Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven postdoctoral researcher to contribute to a challenging project in the field of behavioural economics and health. This project focuses on understanding and predicting sports and physical activity behaviour and translating the results into practical solutions for policy-makers.

Specific attention is given to two key research questions:
  1. Intention and behaviour: How often does an intention to engage in sports translate into actual sports behaviour?
  2. Habit formation and external shocks: What are the effects of external shocks on the process of habit formation?

As a postdoctoral researcher, you will conduct quantitative research on the above-mentioned questions using large datasets. You will develop insights that contribute to policies and practices promoting sports and physical activity. To this end, you will write scientific articles and reports, and collaborate with health, behaviour and policy experts within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • You should hold a PhD degree in economics, behavioural sciences or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
  • You have demonstrated experience with analysing large datasets.
  • You have an affinity for health, behaviour and policy. If your background does not directly reflect these areas, you must explicitly demonstrate your motivation for these topics.
  • You are independent, analytically strong, and possess excellent academic writing skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

Conditions of employment

  • We will give you a temporary employment contract of 18 months.
  • Your salary starts at € 4,227 gross per month (salary scale 10, step 5) and progresses further within salary scale 10. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38-hour working week.

You can make arrangements for the best possible work-life balance with flexible working hours, various leave arrangements and working from home. You are also able to compose part of your employment conditions yourself, for example, exchange income for extra leave days and receive a reimbursement for your sports subscription. And of course, we offer a good pension plan. You are given plenty of room and responsibility to develop your talents and realise your ambitions. Therefore, we provide various training and development schemes.

Department

You will join a multidisciplinary team working on a project aimed at creating societal impact through scientifically grounded insights that promote a healthier society.
