TU/e expects to grow substantially in terms of numbers of master students in the coming years in those disciplines needed by the semicon sector. By 2030, the number of master's students on chip technology will have grown towards a total of two thousand with about one thousand more that will graduate each year. This is contained in the Brainport region plan that will give substance to the National Reinforcement Plan for microchip talent Beethoven. This government plan is very much focused on the Dutch semiconductor sector, with Brainport Eindhoven at its centre. Addressing the labour market shortages in  the Brainport area is the key objective of the plan. This puts TU/e centre stage when it comes to talent attraction in academic research and education.

TU/e is therefore looking for a program manager to direct the TU/e Beethoven plan within the framework of the national plan of reinforcing talent in the microchip sector, in cooperation with all partners involved.

Job Description

As Program Manager Future Chips Education, in collaboration with the four connected deans, you are directing all efforts in the Beethoven-program, defining milestone deliverables and setting up a project and team structure that facilitates attaining the program's objectives in a timely and excellent matter. You are strong in organizing the activities of yourself and the team and using your knowledge on higher education to enthuse and engage all stakeholders (internally and externally) to jointly realize the deliverables. You create optimal synergy for the program in the Future Chips flagship, while involving the relevant codetermination bodies of the university in all major steps to be taken. Additionally, you ensure all actions and results can be and are justified towards the subsidizers.

Your focus areas in the role as Program Manager Future Chips Education will be about the Beethoven Program:
  • Conduct stakeholder management within Brainport and with the 4TU partners.
  • Realization of the ambition for substantial growth in MSc students in the semicon-related programs.
  • The subsequent need for extra scientific and support staff.
  • A student scholarship program for talent.
  • Extra investments in recruitment and retainment of students and staff.
  • Beethoven-related partnerships with industry and educational institutes.
  • Several new MSc tracks in specific scientific departments and between different departments and institutions within the Netherlands.
  • Eventually new collaborations with professional partners in Lifelong Learning on semicon;
  • New collaborations in recruitment and education with secondary vocational education institutes and universities of applied sciences in our network.

In addition, you will be coordinating the alignment of all non-Beethoven educational programs (MSc and BSc) that are relevant to the research and valorisation activities within Future Chips Flagship and will have a landing spot in the TU/e Research Support Office (RSO).

The responsibilities of the program manager include:
  • Alignment of people and efforts: Organizing and optimizing available resources to ensure the effective execution of the program, in line with the national plan and embedded in the Future Chips flagship. Facilitating decision making of the Beethoven Steering Group and codetermination, monitoring progress, and making necessary adjustments to meet goals and objectives efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effectively managing relationships on regional, national and international level with various stakeholders, including industry partners, research groups, scientific departments, university services, and higher management. Representing the Future Chips flagship, the TU/e Beethoven program and TU/e in external engagements and relevant consultations.
  • Budget Management: Taking responsibility for managing the program's budget in cooperation with the financial officer in the Future Chips Flagship, ensuring effective allocation of funds and keeping expenses within budgetary limits, using risk management, and safeguarding accountability.
  • TU/e support: Ensuring that all program activities are well integrated within TU/e and the TU/e support organization by strategically collaborating with the different services and scientific departments to achieve the program's objectives considering the TU/e values and strategy.

Requirements

We are looking for excellent candidates that meet the following requirements:
  • Over 10 years of comparable work experience in successfully directing a program with team members, for example in a research institute or an academic or applied sciences university.
  • A degree in management, (industrial) engineering or comparable.
  • Affinity with academic education, research and/or valorization,
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral),
  • Excellent networking and connecting skills.
  • Proficiency in Dutch and English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, being a team player with a talent for stakeholder management.
  • Well-organized, autonomous, flexible, service- and result oriented, deadline-driven.

As TU/e Beethoven program manager, you are part of the management team of the Future Chips flagship, with among others an ambassador, coordinator, and partnership manager as your direct colleagues in the flagship. You report to the Future Chips Flagship Ambassador.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary (0,8 - 1,0 FTE) employment position. You are right in the middle of the students, on a green campus within walking distance of the central station. Besides beautiful architecture, you will find varied workplaces and excellent sports facilities. We also offer you:
  • A monthly salary of minimum € 6.538,- to maximum € 8.322,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 14 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
