Job description

Do you have affinity with scientific research and are you interested in supporting research teams by coordinating their project management? Then we are looking for you!

The Laboratory of Plant Physiology is growing rapidly, and to streamline our project management, we are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organized multitasker to help manage multiple research projects. These include two NWO Gravitation research programs, several CropXR initiatives, and other project-related activities.

As part of our diverse and energetic team of scientists, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth project execution.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Scheduling and organizing project meetings,
  • Preparing progress reports,
  • Coordinating with project partners, and helping with project initiation and writing
  • Collaborating with our office manager to manage research budgets.

Additionally, you will contribute to the following:
  • Maintenance of the Plant Physiology website and social media accounts
  • Liaising with our legal department to prepare consortium and material transfer agreements,
  • Assisting in recruitment processes,
  • Acting as the general contact point for project management within PPH, and
  • Supporting outreach activities.

The Laboratory of Plant Physiology is a dynamic chair group that is led by Prof. Christa Testerink. We offer an inspiring, inclusive environment with a strong social structure. We perform research and teach on the topic of growth and development of plants in response to a changing environment.

Requirements

You have / You are:
  • experience with project management tasks;
  • ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities;
  • creative and you work in a structured and focused way;
  • obtained a PhD and /or have related experience;
  • an enthusiastic team player and have good communication and English language skills;

For this position your command of the English language is expected to be at C1 level. Sometimes it is necessary to submit an internationally recognised Certificate of Proficiency in the English Language. More information can be found here.

Conditions of employment

Wageningen University & Research offers excellent terms of employment. A few highlights from our Collective Labour Agreement include:
  • partially paid parental leave;
  • working hours that can be discussed and arranged so that they allow for the best possible work-life balance;
  • the option to accrue additional compensation / holiday hours by working more, up to 40 hours per week;

  • a fixed December bonus of 8.3%;
  • excellent pension scheme.

The gross salary will be scale 10 (3.378 euro – 5.331 euro per month, depending on background and experience) according to the Collective Labour Agreements for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU). This is based on a full-time working week of 38 hours. We offer a temporary contract for 12 months which will be extended with 2 years if you perform well.
