Job description

Do you have secretarial experience and keep your cool in sometimes dynamic situations? Are you organizationally sensitive, entrepreneurial, and a real team player? And do you want to work for a growing organization with global impact at a beautiful green campus in the new year? Then keep reading for this exciting role as a management assistant!

We are looking for:
A colleague to join the executive secretariat of the Animal Sciences Group (ASG) in Wageningen, primarily working for the General Director. As a management assistant, you will have a varied range of tasks within a complex organization that can be hectic at times. You will create and maintain an overview of complex information flows and numerous meetings. If you join us, your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the General Director’s calendar;
  • Organizing larger meetings;
  • Preparing, taking minutes, and tracking follow-up actions from meetings;
  • Placing orders and checking invoices;
  • Preparing documents, checking spelling, and archiving them.

You will work closely with two management/office assistants of the executive secretariat, based in Lelystad and Wageningen, for the two directors and staff members of the Animal Science Group.

Requirements

  • You have completed a secretarial education and have proven work experience in secretarial roles;
  • You enjoy being the “spider in the web” and like to contribute to the atmosphere and enjoyment at the department;
  • Strong digital skills; Microsoft Office is second nature to you (especially Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel);
  • You communicate clearly and ensure the right information is provided and feedback is given on ongoing tasks;
  • You enjoy collaborating with your executive secretariat colleagues and ensure seamless coordination;
  • You are well-organized, stay calm under pressure, and aren’t afraid to ask questions;
  • You are diligent, careful, proactive, and deliver quality.

In our international work environment, more and more communication is in English. For this role, a B2 language level is required. If you haven’t reached this level yet, we will help you and you can attend our language center at Wageningen in'to Language.

You will find plenty of challenges awaiting you. These can also be seen as opportunities for personal development. If you don’t yet have the exact track record required for the position but do have solid work experience, we encourage you to apply.

Are you excited about this diverse role? Then interesting challenges await you at Wageningen University & Research.

Where You Will Work:
You will work for the executive and staff of the Animal Sciences Group. The Animal Sciences Group (ASG) of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) consists of Wageningen Livestock Research, Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (Lelystad), Wageningen Marine Research (locations in IJmuiden, Den Helder, and Yerseke), and the Department of Animal Sciences at Wageningen University. The core activities of ASG are scientific and applied research, academic education, and the development of (animal) production systems and innovations. ASG operates in the broad field of wildlife and livestock, from animal ecology to fisheries and aquaculture, from animal nutrition to animal management and systems, and from animal disease control to food safety.

Conditions of employment

When it comes to employment conditions, you’re in good hands at Wageningen University & Research. Highlights of our CAO include:
  • Flexible working hours to allow an optimal work-life balance;
  • Sabbatical leave, study leave, and partially paid parental leave;
  • A strong focus on vitality, with access to on-campus sports facilities at an attractive rate;
  • A structural year-end bonus of 8.3%;
  • Excellent pension plan through ABP.

In addition to these excellent secondary benefits, we offer a competitive salary based on your experience, ranging from €2,823 to €3,719 for a full-time 36-hour workweek under the Wageningen Research CAO (scale 7, with potential growth to scale 8). A contract of 36–40 hours per week is negotiable. We initially offer a one-year contract, which can be extended if circumstances (economic or organizational) allow and if performance is good. We are happy to discuss this further if you have questions.

Wageningen University & Research promotes internal career development and mobility with an internal recruitment policy. There are ample opportunities for self-initiative in a learning environment, and we provide excellent training opportunities. You will have a varied job in an international environment with a pleasant and open work atmosphere.
