Functieomschrijving

Utrecht University School of Economics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Economics of Climate Policy with a strong background in applied microeconometrics. The position is part of the NWO Vidi grant for the project “Climate policy for heterogeneous firms”. This project uses economic theory and Dutch firm-level data to study the heterogeneous repercussions of climate policies for firms. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, your primary focus will be on applied microeconometric analysis, contributing valuable empirical insights to the project.

Your key tasks will include
  • Using firm-level data and advanced microeconometric methods to assess the impact of climate policy
  • Presenting results at seminars (internally and externally), workshops and conferences
  • Engaging as an active member of the research team and department
  • A limited amount of teaching and/or thesis supervision

The successful candidate will work closely with the PI, Inge van den Bijgaart, and Giacomo Domini.

Functie-eisen

We are looking for a candidate who has
  • Completed a PhD in Economics (or due to complete in 2025), preferably environmental economics
  • High motivation and a demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality empirical research
  • Strong expertise in applied microeconometrics
  • Experience working with large datasets, preferably firm-level data
  • Ability to independently carry out research, and effectively collaborate in a team
  • Strong communication skills

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

We offer:
  • a temporary position (0.8-1.0 FTE) for 24 months, starting September 2025.
  • a full-time gross salary between € 4537,- and € 6210,- in scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities (CAO);
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.3% end-of-year bonus;
  • a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions based on the Collective Labour Agreement Dutch Universities.
