The PhD position that UCM is offering is for a candidate who is willing to not only carry out excellent research but to also share their research process with the students. The successful candidate will have a detailed plan indicating how they intend to use/integrate their research project into the UCM curriculum as an inspirational and educational tool to further UCM students’ own research skills and plans. Possible examples might be a range of MaRBLe (undergraduate research) projects, lectures and workshops on the research process as well as the content.
The exact topic of the PhD will need to be decided on with the supervisors but it should have a clearly interdisciplinary approach and appeal to UCM students.
UCM will offer a fully funded, fixed period PhD training programme for one candidate. The programme will last six years starting Sept 2019-2020.
The successful candidate will spend 60% of their time on research and 40% on teaching and academic interviews. As part of their research, successful candidates are expected to offer several MaRBLe projects and supervise capstones.
Preferable:
Fixed-term contract: 1+ 5 years.
Employment basis: PhD candidate appointment lasts for six years (first year + five years after receiving a positive evaluation).
Additional duties: tutor in tutorials, student admission interviews and sharing research with the UCM student community
