We are seeking to strengthen our group with an ambitious and enthusisastic assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the research portfolio of the Software Engineering research group and is encouraged to develop his/her own research line in a viable and promising subfield of software engineering. We are specifically, but not exclusively, looking for strong candidates in “software engineering for AI” and “AI for software engineering”.
Responsibilities for the candidate include:
* Conducting high impact research in the area of software engineering
* Supervising PhD students, helping them to become top researchers in software engineering
* Teaching courses on software engineering topics at the bachelor as well as the masters level in the TU Delft Computer Science curriculum
* Supervising master students in their graduation projects
* Acquiring and managing externally funded research projects in software engineering
* Collaborating with industry to ensure that the group's research results have a lasting impact in software development practice
* Strengthening the contacts between the group and industry as well as other international academic institutions
* Taking responsibility for management and committee work within the section and the department
Applicants must have a PhD degree in the broad field of software engineering, a proven track record of research excellence, the ambition to strengthen and expand the research and teaching of the Software Engineering research group, a team player mentality, and
good communication and social skills. Preferably, the successful candidate has experience in teaching at the university level.
Fixed-term contract: Tenure.
At the start of the tenure-track you will be appointed as Assistant Professor for the duration of six years. Section leader, department leaders and you will agree upon expected performance and (soft) skills. You will receive formal feedback on performance and skills during annual assessment meetings and the mid-term evaluation. If the performance and skills are evaluated positively at the end of the tenure track, you will be appointed in a permanent Assistant Professor position.

The Department Software Technology (ST) is one of the leading Dutch departments in research and academic education in computer science, employing over 150 people. The inspiration for its research topics is largely derived from technical ICT problems in industry and society related to large-scale distributed processing, embedded systems, programming productivity, and web-based information analysis.
The Software Engineering Research Group SERG conducts research in the areas of software evolution, software testing, software analytics and AI-based software engineering. The section employs over 25 people, including academic staff, around 15 PhD students, and several postdoctoral researchers. The software engineering research group (SERG) is an internationally leading research group in software
engineering, and active in such areas as software architecture, software testing, software evolution, mining software repositories and search-based software engineering. The group is responsible for programming and software engineering education at the bachelor's and master's levels in the TU Delft Computer Science curriculum.
