Within Health and Technology we have the mission to shape the future of health(care) in a transformative way with the aim to improve health and societal participation for all. We strive for:

Together, scholars in the life and (population) health sciences, physical sciences, social sciences and humanities, economic sciences and design & engineering will:

• Discover, develop and implement novel technologies and concepts to understand health and disease and to promote health and societal participation.
• Develop and introduce new diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic options optimized for personalized cure and care.
• Design and implement the future value-based healthcare system.

The pressing and complex social challenges of our time call for convergence; crossing boundaries between institutions and disciplines to create new perspectives and solutions. For this reason, TU Delft, Erasmus MC and Erasmus University Rotterdam joined forces in Convergence. Within the convergence theme Health and Technology, we integrate knowledge, expertise and methodology from different domains to form novel frameworks to foster scientific discovery and innovation in health and healthcare. We do this by working on groundbreaking research and innovation bundled in 10 international leading research Flagships.

Ten Flagship projects of the Convergence will conduct research aimed at making healthcare future-proof. The health care system faces complex problems. An increasing demand for care and an extremely tight labor market are putting the sustainability of our health care system to the test. To make healthcare future-proof, scaling up is needed. With the Flagships, we contribute to better outcomes and care for patients, a healthier population, the sustainability of our healthcare and global innovation.
