Job description

The Radio Systems Group within the department of Electrical Engineering has a vacancy for a PhD researcher to work in the EU Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska-Curie Project iSENSE – In-Situ Monitoring of Electromagnetic Interference. This research is linked to Doctoral Candidate 3 – DC3 – on simultaneous radiated and conducted EMI characterization in multi-node sensor networks.

Electromagnetic disturbances, both radiated and conducted, span a vast frequency range yet are often insufficiently captured by conventional sensing methods. This DC will develop advanced EMI sensors capable of detecting disturbances from low kHz up to at least 40 GHz. S/he will design monitoring devices that seamlessly integrate these sensors with existing logging and fault-detection systems in electronic devices. Additionally, s/he will explore database-processing techniques to efficiently manage and analyze the vast data streams generated, ensuring meaningful insights into EMI behavior.
