In the Netherlands, priority is currently being given to eliminating new HIV infections and finding a cure for HIV. In this context, two four year research projects will be conducted. Project 1 focuses on social engagement in HIV cure, the meaningful involvement of people with HIV in that process, and the impact a cure can have on HIV stigma. Project 2 focuses on a regional, tailored approach to HIV prevention in the EuRegio Limburg with German and Belgian border regions for high risk groups such as refugees and men-having-sex-with-men (MSM). These are collaborative national projects with external partners. Project 1 is also co-led with Dr. Chantal den Daas (RIVM) and Prof dr. John de Wit (Utrecht University). The candidates will work at Maastricht University’s Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, Department of Work and Social Psychology, section Applied Social Psychology.

A very good master or research master in public health, health education and promotion, or psychology with a focus on health or social psychology.

An interest in working in the field of HIV prevention and HIV cure research, and with high risk (mostly MSM) populations and people living with HIV (PLHIV).

The candidate should have, or be interested in acquiring, mixed methods research skills that include cross-sectional quantitative research (project 1 and 2), qualitative research (project 1 and 2), and longitudinal experience sampling research (project 2).

The candidate should have an interest in developing interventions and the capacity to cooperate with multiple and diverse partners and stakeholders.

For project 1, good conversation and writing skills in Dutch are necessary. For project 2, good conversation and writing skills in a minimum of two of these languages (French, German, Dutch) are necessary.
