TU Delft is seeking a new Data Stewardship Coordinator to further develop its Data Stewardship programme.

Job description

As Data Stewardship Coordinator, your main task is to co-ordinate the evolution of Data Stewardship at TU Delft. As coordinator, you lead, inspire and grow the network of data stewards across TU Delft faculties and institutes. You manage a forum for all data stewards to share knowledge on research data needs and requirements. You identify synergies across the university, and how to build upon them. You also draw on the expertise of university support services, (e.g. ICT, legal), and influence policy within the TU Delft. You work with national and international networks to share and inform best practice. The position is based in the TU Delft Library as part of the Research Data Services team.

Department
The Library's Research Data Services are playing a leading role in promoting high-quality Research Data Management. The team offer comprehensive training for data and code management, policy advice, data management planning, and an online portal with information and guidance. TU Delft's Data Stewardship programme is coordinated by the Library and helps reach out to a wide range of researchers at the university in order to promote good data management practices over a wide range of disciplines. Key to this embedding is effective engagement with researchers across the campus, achieved through the community of Data Champions.

Requirements

  • You are able to build good relationships and consensus across stakeholders with varying aims.
  • You are knowledgeable about contemporary trends in research data and scholarly communications.
  • You have a good understanding of how to influence change in an organisation and the importance of working with different aspects of a university (e.g. faculties, support services).
  • Experience in managing people would be a plus.
  • You have excellent networking, communication and presentation skills.
  • You have a good command of English (written and spoken) and are willing to learn Dutch (if necessary).

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with possibility of permanent extension.

The position is for 36-40 hours per week (1.0FTE). The employment contract is for a period of 1 year with possibility of permanent extension. The salary is based on scale 11 with a maximum of € 4.978,- per month on a full time basis. TU Delft offers a customisable compensation package, a discount for health insurance and sport memberships, and a monthly work costs contribution. Flexible work schedules can be arranged. An International Children’ Centre offers child care and an international primary school. Dual Career Services offers support to accompanying partners. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.

TU Delft is also home to the 4TU.ResearchData. The 4TU.ResearchData is a data archive for research data in science, engineering and design, and it is run by a consortium of three partners: TU Delft, TU Eindhoven and Twente University. The archive stores research data for long-term access, according to the guidelines of the international Data Seal of Approval. Since its inception in 2010, it has collected over 9,200 datasets. All datasets are currently freely available for anyone to download and re-use; any scientist may also upload data. Around 80% of the uploads are from scientists working in the Netherlands.
