The Erasmus University Rotterdam will start with a comprehensive Academic Outreach and Advancement project as one of the ways to implement our new strategy “The Erasmian Way, Creating Positive Societal Impact”.
The project exists of several lines of action. We aim to 1) elaborate and strengthen our connection with the historically underrepresented primary and secondary school pupils and students in the greater Rotterdam area through several outreach activities, 2) expand and improve student-centered support in the pre-enrollment phase and at EUR for these groups and 3) build new blocks by enabling EUR scientist, teachers and students to develop, implement and research equity-based opportunity programmes and activities.
This project will strengthen other relevant projects already at EUR such as adding more diversity and inclusion aspects in the curriculum, teachers’ professional development, and student activation on campus. These projects are all part of the central Diversity & Inclusion Office. The Academic Outreach and Advancement project is part of the D&I Office, in close cooperation with the Student Well-being programme, the Erasmus Science Hub that introduces school children to science and research, and the Erasmus Ambassadors Office.
Both the post doctoral researcher and the PhD student will work on the project, in which the post doctoral researcher will share some of the coordinating tasks (e.g., communication with collaborators, organization of meetings) and will share supervision over the PhD student with a promotor. Erasmus University Rotterdam offers attractive terms of employment, including a holiday allowance of 8%, a year-end payment of 8.3% and up to 41 annual vacation days in case of a full, 40-hour workweek.

You will be classified as a postdoctoral researcher in the Dutch university job-ranking system (UFO); You will be appointed for 1 year, with a possibility of extension. You will be appointed for an initial period of 12 months. Your performance will be evaluated towards the end of that initial period. If the evaluation is positive, the contract may be extended by 2 years.
The conditions of employment comply with the CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten/ Collective Agreement Netherlands Universities (CAO NU) and will range from € 3.746, - to € 5.127, - max per month (Scale 11) on a fulltime basis, depending on experience.

The General Management Directorate (ABD)
The General Management Directorate (Algemene Bestuursdienst, ABD) is the central staff organisation responsible for the organisation and support of EUR’s policy and administration at the institutional level. ABD supports the Executive Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with regard to the quality, accessibility and financing of EUR’s education and research programmes. ABD handles the joint design of integrated policy, ensures the timely submission of policy within decision-making procedures and the implementation of the adopted policy measures and constantly monitors and evaluates developments in the interest of further improvement. ABD comprises the departments of Academic Affairs (AZ), Corporate Planning & Control (CPC), Administrative Affairs (BZ), Legal Affairs (JZ), Strategy Office (SO) and the CIO- office. The independent university publication Erasmus Magazine also falls under ABD in organisational terms.
The management directorate is headed by the Director of the General Management Directorate, who also serves as Secretary of the Executive Board.
Diversity & Inclusion Office
Erasmus University Rotterdam works hard on its ambitions regarding diversity and inclusion (D&I). That is why a central Diversity & Inclusion Office has been created, with a D&I team which is committed to furthering diversity and inclusion at the university. In addition, each faculty has their own Faculty Diversity Officer (FDO). The D&I programme exist of four pillars: Education & students, Monitoring and Research, HR and an Institutional pillar.
