In this project, you will design new software for medical applications in particular in oncology
We are looking for a positively minded scientist motivated to learn new approaches and ready to work hard to build a scientific career. Our ideal candidate has:
1. Java Developer Skills and Qualifications, in particular:
o Java,
o Java Applets
o Web Programming Skills
o Web User Interface Design
o Software Requirements
o Software Development Process
o Object-Oriented Design (OOD)
o Multimedia Content Development
o Software Debugging
2. A degree in programming
3. Positive track record with software interfaces
4. Programming experience in Matlab, Python or equivalent
5. Fluency in English, both in writing and speaking;
Furthermore, the ideal candidate is an independent and practical personality who
o Is able to take initiatives
o Has the ability to get up to speed quickly on new issues and to make sound judgements on them
o Has a can-do, problem-solving attitude
o Maintains focus
o Has the ability to plan own workload effectively and to delegate

Your place of employment is Maastricht, but you are willing to travel
Fixed-term contract: 12-18 months.

Salary in accordance with job scale 8/9, min. € 2.656,- max € 4.012,- (depending on education and experience). Furthermore, our Agreement offers an extended package of secondary benefits, including a holiday and a year-end allowance and excellent health insurance arrangements. For international candidates a compensation for moving and a tax reduction scheme can be applied.
The School for Oncology & Developmental Biology (GROW) focuses on research and teaching of genetic and cellular mechanisms, as well as environmental and life-style factors that underlie normal (embryonic and fetal) and abnormal (cancer) development. The emphasis is on basic and translational research, aiming at innovative approaches for individualizing prevention, patient diagnosis, and treatment for genetically determined diseases and cancer.
