The applicant will be appointed as a tenure track assistant professor and contribute to research and teaching within the areas of operations research and operations management. Teaching concerns courses in the Econometrics and Operations Research programs, as well as in business and economics programs at SBE, at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Research falls within the Graduate School of Business and Economics. The QE department has a strong research record in mathematics of operations research, econometrics and economic theory. It is largely responsible for the bachelor and master programs in Econometrics and Operations Research, including Data Science, Mathematical Economics and Actuarial Science, with yearly enrolment of around 90 bachelor and 35 master students.

Profile of the candidate:

• has a PhD (or close to completion) in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another relevant area;
• has a strong research orientation;
• has experience with education in Operations Research;
• is an enthusiastic and cooperative colleague, willing to collaborate with the Operations Research group, the QE department, and the school as a whole in research and teaching;
• As the language of instruction is English, your command of English (oral and writing) should be excellent.

Fixed-term contract: Tenure Track.

The preferred starting date of the position is September 1st 2021. You will initially be employed on a temporary contract as an assistant professor (level 2). Together, we will put together a development plan with specific goals to meet. Five years into your appointment, we will evaluate those goals and promote you to assistant professor (level 1) on a permanent contract if the goals have been met. The evaluation can be brought forward if the goals are met earlier, or deferred at your request in case of personal circumstances such as pregnancy leave, parental leave or chronic illness.

The salary will be set in salary scale 11 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (from € 3.746 to € 5.127 gross per month depending on experience and qualifications, based on a full-time appointment). On top of this, there is a 8% holiday allowance and a 8.3% year-end allowance.

The Department of Quantitative Economics teaches and conducts research in the areas of Economic Theory, Actuarial Science, Econometrics and Operations Research.
