Job description

We are looking for a PhD student with affinity for both qualitative and quantitative research methods to design and evaluate optimal data communication and visualization strategies using routinely collected health data.

The routine measurement of health outcomes data is a key component of value-based health care. However, many questions remain on how to translate outcomes measurements into clinical improvements. In the proposed project, a set of best practices will be generated about data communication and visualization strategies that support and motivate healthcare providers to improve care processes.

To achieve this, ongoing improvement efforts for patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) within the BeterKeten, a regional collaboration between 8 hospitals, will be leveraged. Data communication strategies will be designed based on best-practices derived from a comprehensive literature review, a case study analysis, and in-depth interviews with end-users in a user-centered design process. These strategies will then be prospectively tested in a stepwise design within the IBD BeterKeten.

Throughout the project, mixed methods that leverage strengths of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies will be applied. The PhD thesis will contain a carefully integrated collection of peer-reviewed scientific papers.
