The Supervisory Board now invites expressions of interest for the position of Rector, who together with the President (Robert-Jan Smits) and the Vice-President (Nicole Ummelen) form the Executive Board of TU/e. The Executive Board directs the initiation and implementation of the university's strategic policy and is accountable to the Supervisory Board. The Rector of this collegially operating university board has an initiating and coordinating role on all academic matters in consultation with the University Consultative Council (UCC), consisting of the Deans of the nine departments, the Deans of the bachelor college, and the graduate school.

Personal expertise skills and stature

TU/e is seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar who will further build upon the strengths of the technical university through an inspiring vision of how to stimulate effective cooperation and interactions between research, education, impact, and supporting processes. The Rector is the lead and anchor on academic mores, research ethics, integrity, and open science, contributing to the academic level and reputation of the university.  You will embody the TU/e essence by articulating and upholding its academic quality standards with natural ease in internal and external representation of TU/e in (national and international) academia and other contexts.

Knowledge and experience

The Rector is familiar with the fields of expertise at TU/e and enjoys evident recognition and authority in the academic world. The successful candidate is a recognised scientist who has a strategic mindset and builds on rapport with science, engineering, and design, in research, education and impact.  You are a team player and seasoned manager with the makings for governing a growing technical university and endorsing the strategic partnerships of TU/e.

Appointment: The appointment is for a period of four years with the possibility of reappointment.

Remuneration: The position is valued according to the Standards for Remuneration Act (Wet Normering Topinkomens).
