We are looking for an enthusiastic assistant (or associate) professor in Biomedical Ethics to join our growing multidisciplinary department ‘Health, Ethics and Society’. In this role, you will combine innovative research and teaching. Our department is committed to high-quality interdisciplinary teaching and research regarding health in society through philosophy, biomedical ethics and law, sociology, history and anthropology.

Teaching (50%), in the context of undergraduate and graduate courses in both the medical and the biomedical curricula;
Research (50%), with a focus on the ethics of reproductive medicine, personalized medicine, prevention (incl. eHealth/mHealth), and AI. The relevant ethics research will be embedded in both the Care and Public Health Research Institute (CAPHRI) and GROW, the School for Oncology and Reproduction, at Maastricht University
Academic citizenship, incl. membership METC/Ethics Advisory Board of the MUMC+, and ethical advisory work.

Department of Health, Ethics and Society
The Department Health, Ethics and Society (also known as Metamedica) is dynamic and multidisciplinary in nature, with contributions from a range of medical humanities disciplines, including ethics, law, sociology, anthropology, history, and philosophy. Its central ambition is to contribute to critical reflection on developments in biomedical science and healthcare through education and research, both locally and internationally/global.
