The Clinical Psychology team at the Department of Psychology, Education & Child Studies at the Erasmus University Rotterdam is looking for an Assistant Professor “Digital Health Interventions” to strengthen our team in our education program and research topics.
As Assistant Professor “Digital Decision Support: Digital Health Interventions” you will develop your own innovative research line “Digital Health Interventions”, which also fits one or more of the research lines in our team: Emotional Disorders, Addiction, Developmental Psychopathology, Health Psychology and Behavior Change, Forensic and Legal Psychology.
Your focus is on the application of digital health interventions within clinical psychology, and you are interested in how digital interventions change health behaviour or help to improve mental health or treat mental health problems (e.g., anxiety, depression, addiction, etc.).
In addition to your research work (40%), you will be participating in educational activities (60%): teaching in the Bachelor’s program Psychology in domains relevant to ‘Clinical Psychology’ and in the international Master’s degree programs ‘Clinical Psychology’ and 'Health Psychology and Digital Interventions’. You develop and teach courses on these themes that create interactive settings for our students and encourage active learning. Additionally, you supervise bachelor and master theses.
Your core tasks include:
• Developing your own research line in the area of digital health interventions, mental health, and new technologies.
• Educating students in the master specializations ‘Clinical Psychology’ and 'Health Psychology and Digital Interventions’ and supervising bachelor and master theses.
• Actively contributing to our open science and team science approach.
• Actively contributing to the acquisition of external research funding.
• Creating positive societal impact by improving human decision making, behavioural change and health, and ensuring digitalization developments do not create divides within society.
• Cooperating in the interdisciplinary EUR-wide SSH program: The Influence of Digitization on Work, Prosperity, and Entrepreneurship.
This vacancy falls within the new interdisciplinary EUR-broad Social Sciences & Humanities program “The influence of digitalization on work, prosperity and entrepreneurship”. For this program, 3 new Assistant Professors are recruited at the Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies, to connect with the theme “Digital decision support”. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague (m/f/x) who meets the following requirements:
· You have a PhD in a topic relevant to clinical or health psychology, E-health, or digital interventions.
· You have experience with education on the academic level, preferably in clinical psychology, health psychology or related areas. If you do not have your UTQ yet (certification required), you can enroll for the track free of charge.
· You are able to effectively bridge different disciplines and people and enjoy working with a diverse team with various perspectives and levels of expertise.
· You have a clinical or health psychology, an intervention science and a data-driven perspective on digital health interventions.
· You have creative and innovative research ideas (fitting the general research lines of our team).
An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with good working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU).
The start date of this position is 1 November 2023 or earlier, and you will be based at ESSB in Rotterdam, Woudestein Campus. The successful candidate will be offered a 0.8-1.0 FTE, one year contract with Erasmus University Rotterdam. This contract can, in case of positive assessment and unchanged organizational circumstances, be turned into a fixed employment contract. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 4.332 to a maximum of € 5.929 gross per month on a fulltime basis, in accordance with scale 11 of the CAO-NU. In addition, we offer an 8% holiday allowance, an end-of-year payment of 8.3%, and a very generous paid leave scheme.

Team Clinical Psychology
The Clinical Psychology team consists of five research groups with separate, but inter-connected research agendas: Experimental Psychopathology of Emotional Disorders and Affective Neuroscience, Substance Use and Addiction Science, Developmental Psychopathology, Forensic and Legal Psychology, and Health Psychology and Behavioral Change. Together, these groups are committed to a “From Lab to Society” research idea, which aims at a strong mutual connection between experimental research and clinical practice and health promotion.
