The departments associated with Computer Science at TU Delft are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to fill the position of Lecturer. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for (co-)teaching high-quality instructions in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) BSc program and contribute to the overall educational environment.

You will join the CSE Teaching Team, a dynamic team committed to excellence in teaching and education.

We are committed to letting you grow into your role as Lecturer; your responsibilities will grow accordingly.

Since its inception in 2018, the Teaching Team had a significant impact on the quality of the education in the CSE BSc programme, successfully teaching and guiding hundreds of students. Our team was recently nominated as one of the best teaching teams at the TU Delft. We are looking for for additional team members who share our desire to teach and improve education.

You will (co-)teach BSc-level courses. This includes preparing and delivering lectures, designing and/or improving course materials, organizing practical sessions, leading discussions, assessing student performance, and providing constructive feedback.
In the CSE Teaching Team we use innovative teaching methods and technologies to stimulate student engagement and success. In the CSE program, all courses are taught by a team of lecturers, thus good cooperation skills are essential.

You will also be able to engage in education innovation. In addition, you will recruit and lead teams of teaching assistants.

Requirements

  •  You are passionate about teaching and education. Prior teaching experience is appreciated, but not required. We are committed to train the necessary competencies.
  • You should have completed an MSc in Computer Science. A PhD is appreciated, but not required.
  • You should have affinity with and enthusiasm for (some selected) topics taught in the first years of the Computer Science and Engineering BSc programme, like algorithms, databases, software engineering, programming, artificial intelligence, computer networks, multimedia processing, etc.
  • You have good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
  • The working language is English, and we expect good command of the language.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 4 years.

  • A salary according to the Collective Labor Agreement of the Dutch Universities, plus 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%. Bases on scale 10: € 3.226 - € 5.090. 
  • The employment contract is agreed for 4 years. 
  • The position is for 32-40 hours per week

  • Every year, 232 leave hours (at 38 hours). You can also sell or buy additional leave hours via the individual choice budget.

Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) brings together three scientific disciplines. Combined, they reinforce each other and are the driving force behind the technology we all use in our daily lives. Technology such as the electricity grid, which our faculty is helping to make completely sustainable and future-proof. At the same time, we are developing the chips and sensors of the future, whilst also setting the foundations for the software technologies to run on this new generation of equipment – which of course includes AI. Meanwhile we are pushing the limits of applied mathematics, for example mapping out disease processes using single cell data, and using mathematics to simulate gigantic ash plumes after a volcanic eruption. In other words: there is plenty of room at the faculty for ground-breaking research. We educate innovative engineers and have excellent labs and facilities that underline our strong international position.
