Are you passionate about cancer research? The Kops group at the Hubrecht Institute is on the lookout for a talented technician to join the team in groundbreaking cancer research projects using mouse models.

Job description

As a motivated technician, you will manage and support in vivo experiments, and maintain our mouse colony. As a vital member of our team, you will be involved in diverse techniques ranging from colonoscopy imaging sessions to organoid injections in mice, trying to understand the role of chromosomal instability in tumorigenesis. You will be working as a close team with experienced technicians, PhD students, and/or Postdoctoral researchers.

We are a dynamic research group at the forefront of cancer research, specializing in the study of cancer in the intestinal tract. The Kops lab, known for its innovative approaches and cutting-edge techniques, is part of the Hubrecht Institute—a hub of scientific excellence. The KWF partly funds our research.

Requirements

Completed training as zoological analyst/biotechnician/biotechnicus at Dutch MBO or HBO level or equivalent, and license of certification as biotechnician (art.13f2 or former art.12 (Wet op Dierproeven)) or equivalent is mandatory.

A background in animal handling and maintaining an animal colony is a pre. As you will interact and closely collaborate with several (international) group members, proficiency in English and strong social skills are essential.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year (extension after positive evaluation).

Depending on education and experience the minimum salary is € 2.693,- and the maximum salary is € 3.636,- gross per month for a full-time appointment (scale 7 cao Nederlandse Universiteiten/KNAW). This is exclusive of 8% vacation allowance, 8.3% year-end bonus, travel allowance, internet allowance, home working allowance and pension accrual with ABP.

For example, by working an extra two hours a week, it is possible to increase the number of days off from 29 to 41 days a year (with full-time employment).
