Are you passionate about quantum do you want to contribute to quantum technology in a dynamic environment? Apply now to become a Quantum Fabrication Engineer in our new startup initiative at QuTech!

Our mission is to develop scalable quantum processors based on our unique germanium semiconductor technology. In your role, you will contribute to this goal by designing and manufacturing quantum devices to operate and characterize qubits and improve their performance. This is a unique opportunity as your work will lead to larger and better quantum processors and will accelerate the development of a scalable quantum computer.

Working closely with our measurement engineers, you will improve your designs to optimize your sample’s performance. In future projects, your work will potentially extend to designing and developing more comprehensive qubit architectures. As the expert in your field, you will have the opportunity to represent our startup giving presentations at leading conferences in the field.

The envisaged timeframe for our startup to become an independent QuTech spinoff is approximately two years. During this period, we expect to grow our technical team beyond ten driven researchers and engineers. Requirements

  • You have a PhD, or PhD-level ability that enables you to work at postdoc-level.
  • You have experience with the fabrication of nanometer scale devices.
  • You have experience with designing devices using mask layout software.
  • You have experience with working in cleanrooms and using advanced tooling such as e-beam writers.
  • You thrive on working in a startup environment and contributing to the success of a highly-motivated team.
  • You communicate and collaborate well with researchers and fellow engineers and take ownership for your part in meaningful team results.
  • You have a good command of written and spoken English, as you will be working in an international environment.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 yr.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities.
