Job description
The Erasmus Behavioural Lab at Erasmus University Rotterdam is recruiting a (junior) IT-specialist. We are looking for a socially adept individual who is curious and a fast learner. This person should be able to engage effectively with others and demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

As a (junior) IT-specialist, you will join the interdisciplinary support team in charge of overseeing daily lab activities and be involved in all aspects of assisting in behavioral and psychophysiological research. You will be working in a laboratory environment where lab research takes place using high tech sensors acquiring a wide variety of physiological signals. You will maintain the network and server environment of the EBL and help researchers program their experiments.

Essential Duties

• Setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment and functionalities, e.g. EEG, video observation facility, virtual reality, eye tracking, etc.;
• Writing and tweaking software code and scripts;
• Managing and maintaining Windows Servers;
• Packaging software for unattended deployment;
• Helping researchers in programming and preparing experiments, building set-ups programming, data analysis, etc.;
• Computer programming or web/app development skills e.g. Python or VB;
• Developing training manuals and providing training for research assistants and students;
• Writing standard operation procedures and implementing process improvements and good practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least HBO bachelor’s degree or appropriate professional and intellectual ability in a relevant field, e.g. electronics, computer science, etc. Up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology and interest in emerging technologies;
• Knowledge of AD, DHCP, DNS, WDS, Windows policies;
• Proficiency in (or willingness to learn) using laboratory research software, e.g. E-Prime, Presentation, Matlab, EEGLab, Qualtrics, Inquisit, Brainvision Analyser, Acknowledge, etc.;
• Self-motivated to learn new skills and solve problems independently, attentive to detail, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks;
• Hands-on attitude, which means taking initiatives, having a flexible approach, and solving problems on a daily basis;
• Good communication skills in English and Dutch are a must.

The start date of this position is as soon as possible and you will be based at Campus Woudestein in Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB). This position is for 0.8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.226 to a maximum of € 5.090 gross per month (scale 10) on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is entered into for the duration of one year and can be converted into a permanent contract if performance is good and the organizational circumstances remain unchanged.

EBL is the joint research facility of the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB) and the Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM).
