Job description

Are you an enthusiastic researcher with knowledge of agriculture, soils and greenhouse gas emissions? Do you have affinity with model development and application, data processing, and with setting up and conducting applied research? Do you also have the ambition to work as a project leader in the short term and are you fluent in Dutch and English? Then we are looking for you!

Due to the increasing demand for our research, we are looking for a passionate Researcher Soil and Climate for various projects dealing with land use, greenhouse gas emissions and carbon and nutrient cycles. With your work you contribute to the design and implementation of impactful studies on soil carbon sequestration in agricultural soils, closing nutrient cycles in agriculture and carbon farming. You also contribute to the underpinning of Dutch and European climate policy and support regional governments and companies in drawing up their climate plans. To this end, you apply tools and models for scenario- and environmental impact studies. We carry out these projects for various clients such as the Dutch and regional government, EU research projects, the European Commission, and the (inter)national business community. You should have good communication skills and you are able to build an (international) network. Do you have scientific ambitions? Requirements

  • Good communication skills and excellent command of both Dutch and English (C1 level), both written and oral.
  • Relevant academic education in soil science, earth sciences, environmental sciences or similar.
  • Experience with applied research or a PhD in the field of agriculture and the environment is an advantage.
  • Affinity and experience with modeling and data processing.
  • Knowledge of agriculture, soils and greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Analytical minded.

We offer, depending on your experience, a competitive gross salary of between €3,088,- and €6,522,- for a full-time working week of 36 hours, in accordance with the CLA Wageningen Research (scale 10-12). You will initially receive a one-year contract, which will be extended to an open-ended contract in case of mutual enthusiasm en sufficient projects.
