Job description

Home Mechanical Ventilation is the provision of complex care at home. Worldwide, the number of people receiving home ventilation is growing, the underlying conditions are changing, and technological possibilities are increasing, leading to more and more complex care being shifted to the home, preferably with telemonitoring. To get insight into changing practices in Europe, quality of care, use of e-health and to ensure that key research priorities are addressed, we aim to build the first international HMV registry, in collaboration with our national and international network of home mechanical ventilation expertise centres (Upsala University Hospital Sweden, Sorbonne Université, Hôpital La Pitié Salpêtrière, France, Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS), Portugal, “G. Rodolico- San Marco” University Hospital, Italy, Hôpitaux universitaires de Genèva, Switzerland), patient experts, patient organisations and industry partners. We will combine data from existing large registries, and supplement these with prospective data and telemonitored data from clouds.

Requirements

As the UMCG is the coordinating primary center, you will be coordinating the project. You will be responsible for building the registry, combining existing databases and built the prospective data building system. As so, you will be collaboration with the THCS consortium, patients and industry partners. Consequetively, you will be analyzing the data and write scientific papers on this topic.

Whom are we looking for
We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher (WO) that has experience with and becomes enthusiastic from data, is able to work with larger databases and has skills in data analyses of large datasets. Also, you have to be able to support the collaborators, and have strong organization and communication skills. Also, as it is an international project, speaking fluently English is needed.

We offer a position for 1 year for 32-36 hours a week, with a possibility to 2 year extension (total 3 years). The starting salary is dependent on your qualifications and relevant experience in scale 10 (max gross salary € 5.504,- based on a full-time position). In addition, the UMCG will offer you 8% holiday pay, and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The conditions of employment comply with the Collective Labour Agreement for Medical Centres (CAO-UMC).

The Center for Home Mechanical Ventilation Groningen is one of the four home ventilation centers in the Netherlands and holds a leading national and international position in chronic ventilation. The center provides care for >1100 patients requiring home ventilation. The HMV center Groningen engages in extensive research, ranging from physiological studies to randomized trials, and leads in the optimization of monitoring. In addition to the three pulmonologists, the CTB Groningen team includes nurse specialists, nursing consultants, technicians, and support staff.
In the Netherlands there are 4 Home Mechanical Ventilation Centers, which will all actively participate in the project. Specifically, you will also partly work at the University Medical Center Utrecht, to proactively built the pediatric registry from there.
