Job Description
For the Center for European Studies (CES) and the Maastricht Summer School (MSS), we are looking for a team coordinator. In this role, you will help guide the team and provide a stable foundation that allows the entire team to thrive. You will be the lead employee in a team of 14 people and one of the main goals is to help the team developing a vision aimed at a future proof CES and MSS within Maastricht University.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Shape the team, its programs and organisational setup for a sustainable future within UM;
  • HRM: work proactively on establishing and maintaining a well-balanced and motivated team;
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative and healthy work environment;
  • Establish and maintain a LEAN way of working based on roles and responsibilities;
  • Overall budgeting for CES and MSS;
  • Manage contract and study agreements;
  • Recruitment of new partners abroad and excellent management of relationships with existing stakeholders;
  • Represent CES and MSS abroad at conferences and study abroad fairs;
  • Ensure quality of education, assessment and instructors towards future accreditation of programmes and courses;
  • Chair of the academic board of CES and MSS;
  • Build and maintain relationships with other UM parties.

Requirements
You have well-developed soft skills and foster a professional, high-quality work environment. You are a hands-on team leader who knows how to get things done, and you are attentive to what is happening with your team members. You ensure inclusivity, harmony, and stability within the team through your neutral and guiding role, in line with UM’s leadership principles.

Additionally:
  • You have the ability to anticipate and you are stress-resistant; you can identify the consequences of given problems or developments and provide alternatives for eventual outcomes with a flexible outlook and approach;
  • You are very client and service-oriented: you are a warm, caring personality and have a great ability to level with undergraduate students;
  • You are flexible. (working during evenings/weekends and a 24/7 emergency service are part of the job) and you are willing to travel overseas on a regular basis;
  • You have academic work level or specific degrees (MA/MSc) in the field of international business or management studies;
  • You have some years of experience in a coordinating role, preferably within higher education;
  • You show openness to and experience with cultural diversity: the new team coordinator knows how to handle issues relating to cultural differences in an efficient and professional manner and is able to demonstrate a high-level of interpersonal skills;
  • You possess an excellent command of both English and Dutch (written and spoken);
  • You have extensive experience with the full range of Microsoft Office applications.

Knowledge of Maastricht University (UM), experience in/with International Higher Education (in particular in the USA), and a track record of having studied or worked abroad with different cultures are preferred.

What we offer
As a team coordinator at Student Services Centre, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3226,00 and €5090,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0.8 - 1.0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Working at Student Services Centre
The Student Services Centre (SSC) is the central contact point for all student services and helps students with a variety of issues related to studying and student life. For example, the SSC provides students with information on admission, registration, tuition fees and diploma recognition, but they can also go there for legal advice on study-related matters, career advice, a language course or help from a psychologist. In addition, the SSC offers all kinds of extracurricular activities such as a broad sports offer at the University Sports Centre, volunteering opportunities or lectures and workshops through Studium Generale. This way, the SSC offers students the opportunity to develop and enrich themselves in other areas besides their studies so that they can enter the job market with a broad-based knowledge, skills and competencies.

The direct contact with students and the variety of services, make the SSC a dynamic working environment. The SSC structurally cooperates extensively with faculties, other services centres within UM, students and external partners to support the student in the best possible way. Department
The Center for European Studies (CES) and the Maastricht Summer School (MSS) are also a part of the Student Services Centre. CES and MSS provide comprehensive, English-language study abroad programmes for approximately 850 international students a year.

CES semester students participate in courses of the existing regular course offerings at all UM faculties. In addition, CES and MSS organise tailor-made courses, which are taught by UM faculty and freelance instructors.
