The Informatics Institute at the University of Amsterdam is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Event Manager to join our team for ICAI, the Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence. ICAI supports ICAI Labs, which are public-private partnerships with the focus on shared ownership for innovation and creating impact with AI. As an Event Manager, you will play a crucial role in organizing and managing events that showcase AI advances, connect the community where they can share knowledge and learn from each other, and foster collaboration among researchers, industry partners, and the broader AI community. You will work closely with the communication manager and a dedicated content team to ensure the success of our events.

What are you going to do:
As the Event Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, execution, and evaluation of a variety of events related to AI to support our community.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Responsible for the planning and coordinating events such as conferences, meetups, workshops, seminars, and hackathons.
  • Managing event logistics, including venue selection, catering, and other logistics.
  • Collaborating with the content team to develop engaging event programs.
  • Liaising with speakers, sponsors, and attendees to ensure a seamless event experience.
  • Overseeing event budgets and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Promoting events through various channels in collaboration with the communication manager.
  • Handling event registrations and participant communications.
  • Evaluating event success and providing post-event reports and feedback.

Experience
We are looking for a candidate with the following experience:
  • Proven experience in event management, preferably in an academic or tech environment.
  • Familiarity with AI and technology topics is a plus.
  • Proficiency in event management software and tools.

Our offer
We offer a temporary employment contract for 15-18 hours per week for a period of 12 months. The preferred starting date is as soon as possible. If we assess your performance positive, your contract will be extended with 24 months.

The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranges between € 3,072 to € 4,103 (scale 8). This does not include 8% holiday allowance and 8,3% year-end allowance. The UFO profile Project Leader 3 is applicable. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable.
